Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a problem of not being able to focus, being overactive, not being able to control behavior or a combination of these. For these problems to be diagnosed as ADHD, they must be out of the normal range for a person's age and development.
More than 15 million Americans are estimated to be affected by ADHD. In 2007, over 5 million, or 9.5%, of US school-aged children were reported by their parents to have ever been diagnosed with ADHD. It is estimated that 4.4%, or 10 million, US adults aged 18 to 44 have ADHD. This estimate was based on a survey of 3,199 adults aged 18 to 44 and applied to the full US population aged 18 and over.
This is not a diagnostic tool. These symptoms are not the only criteria for diagnosing ADHD. Only a trained health professional can diagnose ADHD. If you or someone you know has the above symptoms, a professional Therapist/Counselor at Champion Christian Community Counseling of Tomball can evaluate and assess each person to find the best solution.
